Nature's symphony - Exploring Jim Corbett National Park

In this blog, I shall embark on an unforgettable journey into the untamed wilderness of Jim Corbett National Park. Situated in the enchanting landscapes of Uttarakhand, India, this iconic national park is renowned for its diverse flora and fauna, majestic tigers, and captivating landscapes.

An Introduction to Jim Corbett National Park:

Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in the country. It was established in 1936 under the name Hailey National Park, named after Sir Malcolm Hailey, the then Governor of the United Provinces. The park was later renamed in honor of Jim Corbett, the legendary hunter-turned-conservationist.

An enchanting experience:

Jim Corbett National Park offered more than just wildlife sightings. I explored the park's enchanting landscapes, including glistening rivers, cascading waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints.

Despite no tiger sighting, my experience in the Bijrani Zone of the National Park was still nothing short of brilliant. The sheer anticipation and the possibility of spotting such a majestic creature created an atmosphere filled with excitement and wonder. Immersed in the beauty of the forest, surrounded by diverse wildlife, and guided by knowledgeable experts, the adventure itself became the highlight. The serenity of the surroundings, the vibrant birdlife, and the glimpses of other fascinating animals made it an unforgettable journey.

A guide to the Jim Corbett adventure:

Arrival: Arrive at the nearest railway station or airport in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand.

Accommodation: Check into a resort or hotel near Jim Corbett National Park. There are several options available to suit different budgets and preferences.

Safari Booking: Make advance reservations for jungle safaris in the park. You can choose from different types of safaris, such as jeep safaris, canter safaris, or elephant safaris, depending on your preference.

The National park has a total of six entry gates that provide access to different zones within the park. Dhangarhi gate is the main entrance which provides access to the most popular Dhikala zone. Apart from the Dhangarhi gate, the Bijrani gate and the Jhirna Gate provides access to the core zones.

Preferably book an early morning safari, as it is prime time of Tiger sighting. Wake up before dawn and head to the designated safari gate for your chosen safari type. Enjoy the thrilling experience of exploring the park's diverse flora and fauna while accompanied by trained guides and naturalists.

You may also stay inside the National Park. But, this option is only available for the Dhikala zone. Hence, do a prior booking in case you are planning for this.

Apart from the safari, you may also spend some time by the Kosi River, which flows along the boundary of the park. Enjoy a picnic, indulge in birdwatching, or take part in activities like river rafting or fishing, depending on the season and availability.
